Vlastannaya, Trails of the Moon

“I met him on the misted road, where life meets death.”

A wandering academic comes across a mysterious stranger in the isolated Welsh countryside.

The stranger speaks of his aimless life, and how one December evening, ten years prior, he wrote a suicide note.

What transpires after marks the stranger’s journey into the peripheral, parallel otherland of ‘Vlastannaya’ – a place of mixed memories, unsettled dreams, night-bus conversations and neon hauntings from his dead love.

As the stranger tells his story, more questions arise. Why is he here? Where is he going? What is the great undulating fragment he fears most of all? And why does our narrating academic feel a solemn pang of familiarity with this strange, liminal underworld?

Trails of the Moon is E.P. Wilson’s first novel and will be released in 2022.
